Land-Based Trails and Attractions
Rhode Island may be small, but that doesn't mean that it's not interesting. There are acres and acres of wildlife preserved in this state; a large number of public gardens give people something to take their breath away. Staunch believers in their own natural heritage, the people of Rhode Island strive to ensure that their ecological and environmental wealth is well-protected and well-appreciated by all. And what better way to do this than to provide visitors the opportunities to enjoy their unique nature trails?
For those who are avian fans, there is the fascinating Bird Watchers Nature Trail. There are about three hundred different bird species found in Rhode Island (the most famous of which is the Bald Eagle), and that excludes some hundreds more that pass by through migration. If you're not much of a bird nut, you can always go for the hiking nature trails – while there aren't mountains as such in the state, there is enough variation in the terrain to make walking a challenge. Furthermore, the plant life that you will come across in trails such as these are just as beautiful as the birds. Finally, there is the garden nature trail, where visitors can take in some three hundred years worth of horticulture and landscaping, providing you a chance to take in the fruits of period gardening. If you get the chance, we encourage you to look for the butterfly garden.
