Historical Heritage Trails

Another way to enjoy your stay in Rhode island is to immerse in its historical culture. As we know, Rhode Island has a very rich tapestry of involvement throughout American history, and as such, its people take pride in the culture that had been borne out of it. That being said, there are several points of historical interest to choose from when traveling through Rhode Island ranging from architecture to cuisine. The landscape may be complex and interesting, but the history of the state is far larger than its own territory so there are (predictably) significantly more heritage trails in Rhode Island than there are nature trails.

One of the favorites places to visit for such historical trails would be Newport County. Newport County has a grand total of five heritage trails attached to its name – the Newport County Maritime Heritage Trail, the Newport County Military Heritage Trail, the Newport County Religious Heritage Trail, the Newport County Maritime Heritage Trail and the Newport County Gilded Age Heritage Trail. All of these Newport County heritage trails are very much educational, as well as breathtaking since they give visitors the benefit of enjoying the sights of castles and palaces on top of actual historical sites that were pivotal to American history. We recommend that you visit Newport, should you like to fully immerse yourself in Rhode Island heritage.
