Water-Based Trails and Attractions

Rhode Island, as was mentioned, is not called “the Ocean State” for nothing. Some people claim that there is no area in this state that isn't a mere thirty minutes worth of driving away from the water. There are several hundred miles of coastline in this state, with some one hundred (or more) beaches of the private and public persuasion for the enjoyment of all. There are also ponds and freshwater wetlands scattered all over the state. Evidently, the waters that practically define the image of this state are the pride and joy of Rhode Island. And there are so many good ways to enjoy this feature of the state.

One of the good ways, should you decide that being too up-close and personal is not to your liking, is to opt for the coastal nature trail? Through this, you'll be able to marvel at the breathtaking and virtually untouched coastal landscapes (snapping a picture or two of the majestically magical sight). Ranging from ponds to bluffs that overlook the expanse of the Atlantic Ocean, there is no way that you won't fall in love with Rhode Island in this trail. The recommended way by far, however, would be to go to Narragansett Bay and indulge in some straight-on interaction with the water. Whether you'd like jump right into the water by means of water sports (like snorkeling, kayaking scuba diving and the like) or just take in the beauty of the Bay by riding a boat (we recommend that you try for the whale watching), actually being in the water is an experience you won't soon forget.
